Rolls Royce Phantom electric car to be launched soon
The constantly rising gasoline prices has alarmed the world as well as the automobile manufacturer’s around the globe, especially in the developed market who are now in the process of developing Electric vehicles (EV’S). Most of the automobile majors have already entered the electric vehicle or the hybrid car segment in the previous year. Now the major car makers like General motors, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Ford are trying to manufacture electric cars or hybrid cars which will be aimed for the masses, on the other hand Toyota has proved to be a pioneer in this category.
Luxury car makers like BMW, Jaguar and Porsche are also entering the race and have already started showing their interest in this category of cars with Porsche recently launching its Panamera S Hybrid.
Now it has also been reported that another luxury car maker, Rolls Royce which is a unit of German auto giant BMW AG has announced that the company is developing a fully electric powered car however, they haven’t mentioned when are they planning to start the production for this environment friendly model. As per the media reports, Rolls Royce informed that the prototype has been dubbed from 102EX and is based on its top end selling model “Phantom” and they are planning to put it through various tests throughout this year. The normal Phantom model is powered by a 6.75 litre and a 12 cylinder engine which is at least three to four times the size of a sedan and its average being somewhere around six kilometers per litre. Rolls Royce also mentioned that they have plans to display the prototype at the Geneva Motor show which is scheduled to be held on the 1st of March however, they have denied about any immediate plans of entering into the production cycle.
