Renault to Launch Lodgy AMT Variant Soon
Following the launch of the Duster AMT, the French automaker is now reportedly readying the automatic variant of the Lodgy MPV for the Indian market.

It seems Renault is geared up to update its other products with the AMT technology this year. The launch of the Renault Lodgy AMT will give it the needed boost to tackle the heat coming up from the Toyota Innova and the new Maruti Ertiga, which is also equipped with the same technology.
Renault has equipped the 6-speed AMT unit with the 1.5-litre 110PS diesel engine of the Duster and it also shares the platform with the Lodgy MPV, hence, it can be expected that the AMT unit could be easily recalibrated in the Lodgy as well. According to reports, the carmaker could provide the AMT gearbox in the RXL and RXZ trims, same as that of Duster.
Since its inception in the market, the Lodgy has not been able to make a significant impact in the segment. Maruti Ertiga has been giving a tough fight to the Lodgy in almost every area be it the looks, the features, the performance, and the most important, the pricing. Hence, Lodgy vs Ertiga is going to be a tough competition in the Indian automobile market. At an affordable price range of Rs. 6.2 to Rs. 9.3 lakh Maruti is offering a 7 seater vehicle, features like push button start/stop, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking and a good looking MPV with an excellent mileage of 24.52kmpl (diesel).
Moreover, Toyota which has already showcased the next-generation Crysta MPV at the Auto Expo, is also readying up the 6-speed automatic variant. So launching the AMT equipped variant early, would be a smart move from Renault. In order to broaden the AMT portfolio in its line-up, the company is also preparing the AMT version of Kwid hatchback, to be launched in the festive season this year.
