New Hyundai i20 Test Drives And Deliveries Now Underway

Hyundai racks up over 10,000 pre-launch bookings for the new-gen i20

• Around 10,000 units of the new i20 have already been dispatched with customer deliveries also underway on the launch day itself.

• New i20s are now on display at Hyundai showrooms with test drives starting from today.

• New i20 is priced between Rs 6.80 lakh and Rs 11.18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The latest-generation of the Hyundai i20 premium hatchback has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 6.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Even though official bookings have only been open for around 10 days, the carmaker claims it has already received more than 10,000 bookings for the new i20.

Hyundai has got demo units of the third-gen i20 at various dealerships across the country with test drives underway from today itself. It is now the most powerful offering in the segment thanks to the 120PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine but it is only offered with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The carmaker has stated that deliveries for the new i20 have also begun with around 10,000 units already on their way.

The all-new i20 has a premium cabin with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 7-speaker Bose audio system, sunroof, air purifier and cruise control. In terms of safety, it comes with up to six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera, and driver rear view monitor. The infotainment system comes with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology with over-the-air updates.

Prices for the 2020 i20 range from Rs 6.80 lakh to Rs 11.18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It renews its rivalry against the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo.
