Mercedes-Benz 15 launches for 2015 India Portfolio: Retrospect

As promised, Mercedes-Benz has finished its 15 launches for 2015 portfolio for India, by releasing A-Class face-lift, which has been launched at a price tag of Rs. 24.95 lacs. Over the year, the luxury automaker has presented an exceptional growth in the country and brought in a range of new and improved products that redefined the luxury sedan and SUV segment. So, we have compiled a list of all the 15 cars that were launched in India over the course of the last year and with the end of the year fast approaching, what better way to welcome a happy and hopefully more exciting new year. 1) Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class launched in India; priced at Rs. 31.50 Lacs

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the much anticipated CLA-Class in the country with a starting price tag of INR 31.50 Lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Being the cheapest luxury saloon from Mercedes' stable, it will primarily go up against the cheapest Audi in the country, the A3 saloon.

2) Mercedes-Benz launches C 220 CDI in India at Rs. 39.90 Lacs

After launching the petrol C 200 in November last year, Mercedes-Benz has now introduced its diesel version, the C 220 CDI in India. Priced at INR 39.90 Lacs & INR 42.90 Lacs, the diesel avatar on the same line will first be imported as a CBU, while the CKD operations will commence at a later stage.

3) Mercedes-Benz launches B-Class facelift in India at Rs. 27.95 Lacs

Mercedes-Benz continues its expansion streak in India with the introduction of another product. In an on-going event in Mumbai, the company has launched a facelift model of its already available B-Class. Alongside the introduction of new B-Class, the company also took this opportunity to upgrade the diesel engine of its younger sibling- A-Class. Now the A200 CDI provides an additional 25 percent power and 20 percent torque. The A180 is priced at INR 25.95 lacs while the A200 CDI is priced at INR 26.95 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

4) Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet launched in India at INR 78.5 lac

In line with its 15 in ‘15 launch strategy, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the E400 Cabriolet in India alongside the CLS facelift. The car will be sold through the CBU route in the country and will serve more as a halo product (than a volume seller) in the company’s line-up.

5) Mercedes-Benz Launches CLS 250 CDI at Rs. 76.5 lac

 After the CLA-Class, C-Class diesel, new B-Class and updated A-Class, Mercedes-Benz India has now added the facelifted CLS 250 CDI to its product line-up. Priced at INR 76.5 lac, the car sits in between the E and the S-Class, and will be sold in the country as a CBU (Complete Built Unit).

6) Mercedes-Benz Launches Made-In-India C 220 CDI at Rs. 37.90 lac

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the locally-assembled new C-Class diesel with nearly Rs. 2 lac reduction in the overall pricing, it now starts at Rs. 37.9 lac. The local production of the new C 220 CDI commences within three months of the car’s Indian debut. And will now be available at all the Mercedes-Benz dealerships across India.

7) Mercedes-Benz India launches S600 Guard at Rs. 8.9 Crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the armored version of its flagship luxury sedan, the S-Class. Christened as S 600 Guard, this vehicle offers the occupant VR9-level of ballistics protection and costs a whopping INR 8.9 crore and onwards.

8)/9)/10) Mercedes Launches S 500 Coupe, S 63 AMG Coupe and G 63 AMG Crazy Color Edition

Mercedes-Benz has launched the S 500 Coupe, S 63 AMG and G63 AMG in the country. These models mark the entry of the S-class coupes in the Indian market. The company has tagged these models at S-Class Coupe - INR 2.0 Crore, Mercedes-AMG G63 Crazy Color edition- INR 2.17 Crore and S63 AMG Coupe - INR 2.60 crore.

11) 2015 Mercedes S 63 AMG Sedan Launched at Rs 2.53 Crore

Adding to its 15 model launch for the year 2015, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the flagship 2015 Mercedes-AMG S 63 Sedan at Rs 2.53 crore, ex-showroom Bengaluru. This is the next addition to the Mercedes portfolio, along with the S 500 Coupe, S 63 AMG Coupe and the G 63 Crazy Color edition, which were launched last month.

12) Mercedes Benz C63 S AMG Launched at Rs. 1.3 Crore

Mercedes-Benz continuing with its launch spree has released another performance product in the market. It's the C63 S AMG sedan and is priced from Rs. 1.3 Crore onwards, ex-showroom Delhi. The vehicle is powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine similar to the Mercedes AMG GT S which churns out a hefty 510 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-Speed AMG SpeedShift gearbox which shifts gears within milliseconds.

13) Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV launched at Rs. 58.9 lacs

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the updated ML-Class today, now christened the GLE-Class under its new nomenclature. The SUV is available with a choice of two diesel engines and competes against the likes of recently-updated Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and Audi Q7.

14) Mercedes Benz AMG GT S Launched at Rs. 2.4 Crores

Mercedes Benz India has launched its flagship model, the AMG GT S at Rs. 2.4 Cr (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the 5th AMG that has been launched in India this year and is developed completely in-house by the Mercedes AMG department. Replacing the SLS AMG, this supercar is powered by an all-new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 that churns out 510 PS of power along with 650 NM of torque.

15) Mercedes-Benz A-Class Facelift Launched at Rs. 24.95 lacs

The baby Mercedes has completed the German automaker's '15 in '15 promise as the A Class hits the showroom floors. The car has been launched at a price tag of Rs. 24.95 lacs. The A 180 Sport kicks off the pricing at Rs. 24.95 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai), and the Mercedes A 200d variant comes at Rs. 25.95 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai). Largely a facelift, the updated A Class remains mechanically unchanged. The A Class facelift carries over the same engine and 7 speed dual clutch gearbox combo. While the facelift got Mercedes' 4MATIC system globally, it didn't make its way to the Indian market.
