Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet launched in India at INR 78.5 lac

In line with its 15 in ‘15 launch strategy, Mercedes-Benz India today launched the E400 Cabriolet in India alongside the CLS facelift. The car will be sold through the CBU route in the country and will serve more as a halo product (than a volume seller) in the company’s line-up.

The E-Class sedan is anyhow a good looking car, but in this Cabriolet form it looks even better. A single-slat mesh grille with the large three-pointed star, similar LED headlights and sporty bumper with large air dams gives the front fascia an aggressive stance. Overall the Cabriolet looks almost identical to the standard E-Class, except that this one has two doors instead of four.

The E400 cabriolet comes packed with plethora of modern features including Mercedes’s latest COMAND interface. The company has also fitted the cabriolet with features such as AIRCAP, a retractable deflector on the top edge of the windscreen, which forces the airflow upwards at higher speeds, significantly reducing the in-cabin noise when the roof is down.

The E 400 Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder (V6) turbo-petrol motor, that puts maximum power of 328 bhp at 5,250 - 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 480 Nm between 1,200 - 4,000 rpm that’s routed via a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The E 400 cabriolet, according to the company, does a 0-100 kmph stint in just 5.3 seconds.
