Mahindra XUV500 2021 Latest Spy Shots Reveal A Dual-Tone Dashboard, An Electronic Parking Brake And More

Mahindra’s upcoming second-gen XUV500 has once again been spotted on public roads undergoing testing, ahead of its impending early-2021 launch. The latest spy shots reveal a couple of new things about the 2021 XUV500 including its interior design and feature list.
As seen in the pictures, the XUV500 spotted had a dual-tone black and cream dashboard design. The manual AC control unit on this test mule, the manual gear shift lever pictured here, and the air place style buttons have all been lifted straight out of the Thar. We also get a better look at the seamless instrument cluster and touchscreen design, which harks back to the premium-looking flush sitting design we are used to seeing on Mercedes-Benz cars. Both displays do not have any physical boundaries between them but we expect them to be two individual units.
Another important sighting in these spy shots is the presence of an electronic parking brake. With the amount of tech we have already spotted on the XUV500, the electronic parking brake was expected to make the cut, but this is the first time we have spotted one on an actual test mule. What’s more, there is a dial behind it that looks like it can be used to control various features on the touchscreen such as phone calls, music, settings and more. The XUV500 will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine will be a 2.0-litre turbo unit whereas the diesel engine will be a 2.2-litre unit. Both these engines are available on the recently launched Thar as well. The petrol engine in the Thar makes 150PS and 300Nm whereas the diesel puts out 130PS and 300/320Nm. However, in the XUV500, both the units are expected to make closer to 200PS. Both these engines are available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission and we expect the 2021 XUV500 to have a similar setup.
The XUV500 will go up against the likes of the Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and even the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson to an extent. We expect Mahindra to price it in the Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh region, ex-showroom that is.
