After revealing the Vision T, Vision SXT and Vision X prototypes, Mahindra has unveiled the Vision S concept that gets a boxy design and looks like a near-production prototype. Mahindra has said that the concept will enter series production by 2027 and will be launched in the same year. Notably, this concept will be the first one to be launched in India amongst the 4 prototypes that were showcased by the carmaker during the 79th Independence Day.

Front Design
The Mahindra Vision S gets an upright stance and comes with boxier proportions, but it gets smoother edges on its body, which makes it look more like a production-spec model.
At the front, it gets dual-pod LED headlights and vertical strips for LED DRLs, all of which look very futuristic. Another smart detail that Mahindra has offered in the concept are illuminated light strips on the grille that is expected to give it a distinct look at night.
Other than this, it gets a rugged all-black bumper with a silver skid plate and pixel-shaped LED fog lamps that make the SUV concept look bold and aggressive.
Side Design
It is in the side profile where the traditional SUV-like boxiness of the concept can be seen in its full glory. However, modern-looking flush-type door handles and camera-based outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) do add a premium touch to the body.
To accentuate its off-road nature, Mahindra has equipped the Vision S with squared off wheel arches wrapped in black cladding, which are extended to the doors of the prototype. Mahindra has equipped the Vision S concept with road-biased tyres with elegant-looking dual-tone alloy wheels, which should mean that the production-spec model can feel more at home on the roads rather than the beaten track. To ease climbing into the car, Mahindra has offered black side steps with the Vision S concept.
The A, B and C pillars are blacked out, while the rear quarter glass has a jerry can (right side) and a ladder (left side) mounted on it. It also gets chunky roof rails that gives it a tall boy stance.
Rear Design
The tail lights are designed in a similar way to the headlights and are placed in a black hosing to provide added contrast to the overall design. The rear bumper also follows a similar approach and comes with pixel-shaped fog lamps and a silver skid plate.
The highlight here, however, is the tailgate mounted spare wheel that gives it a lot of character and completes its SUV look. It also gets a grey cover with ‘Vision S’ written on it to let people know what they are oogling at.
Interior
Like the exterior, the interior too looks very modern with dual-tone navy blue and grey interior theme and a dual-screen setup on the dashboard. A 3-spoke steering wheel with ‘Vision S’ written on it and which looks inspired by the Land Rover Defender’s unit, can also be spotted. Other than this, it comes with triangular-shaped AC vents with silver surrounds that protrude from the dashboard and looks very aggressive and modern.
The centre console is finished in glass black materials and features two cupholders, a wireless phone charger, a gear selector stalk and an electronic parking brake with auto hold function. Ahead of the console are buttons including ventilated front seats and hazard lamps, similar to the current-spec Mahindra Thar. Above it is a touch-enabled AC control panel that looks sleek and modern.
The seats also follow the same navy blue and black theme and get leathrette seat upholstery with contrasting white stitching.
When Will it Enter Production?
The Mahindra Vision S will enter series production by 2027, after which it will be launched in the same year in its production-spec avatar. Notably, it will be the first amongst the 4 concepts that will see the light of the day in the country. It will serve as an alternative to sub-4m SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Kia Syros, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue.
