Mahindra Vision T

The Vision T concept was showcased by Mahindra at the Freedom NU event on August 15, 2025. From its design, it appears to be a more evolved version of the Mahindra Thar E concept, which was unveiled in South Africa in 2023. The Vision T is underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform, which has the flexibility to accommodate multiple powertrain options. Mahindra is expected to introduce the production-ready version of the Vision T by late 2027 or early 2028.

Although the Vision T concept incorporates more production-ready design elements compared to the Thar E concept, it has retained the traditional boxy SUV silhouette. The front is accentuated by a 6-slat split grille setup, which looks similar to the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The concept also has squared headlights with vertical LED DRL stripes, and gets a chunky black bumper, which also integrates an exposed tow hook latch, finished in yellow.

In profile, the Vision T concept closely resembles the Mahindra Thar Roxx, particularly because of its rear quarter glass panel. Similar to the Thar Roxx, the rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillar. Another interesting detail is a Land Rover Defender–style storage compartment positioned on the left D-pillar. These bits might not make it to the production spec, but they certainly look cool. The Vision T concept rides on off-road tyres, which makes the overall design of the concept even more rugged.

At the rear, the tailgate-mounted spare wheel once again reminds us that the Vision T belongs to the Thar family. Just like at the front, the concept gets squared tail lights with vertical LED stripes.

The cabin of the Mahindra Vision T concept has an upright dashboard with a dual-tone interior theme. Just like the Thar Roxx, the Vision T concept comes in a 5-seater layout. 

It also has a 3-spoke steering wheel with ‘Vision T’ inscribed on the horn pad, and interestingly, this steering wheel also has a starter button, as seen on sports cars. A fully digital driver’s display is positioned in front of the steering wheel, while the biggest highlight is the large vertical touchscreen, which also integrates the climate control display.

Mahindra didn’t reveal the exact powertrain specifications for the Vision T concept. However, since it is based on the NU IQ platform, which can accommodate multiple powertrains, it is expected to be offered in both ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV versions. Hence, we can expect it to make it to production and be offered in Petrol, Diesel and EV, or possibly even a hybrid powertrain.
