TUV300 has been launched today in a grand event. The car was one of the most anticipated compact SUV’s of the year. A viral promotional campaign was launched by Mahindra to promote the car and did so very well. The car come at a competitive price of INR 6.9 lakhs (Ex- showroom, Pune). Mahindra’s mHawk 80 Diesel Engine find its application in this compact SUV and comes mated to a 2-Stage Turbocharger. Keeping the competitive pricing in consideration, the features and specifications of this car manages to impress on beyond comprehension, but we still gave it a shot:

The Grunt

  • TUV300 comes features a BS4 1493cc powerplant, which is capable of producing a peak power output of 84bhp@3750rpm and 230Nm of torque between 1500-2250rpm
  • The engine is mated to a 5-speed MT/AMT gearbox
  • Underpinnings of the car feature a Double Wishbone Front suspension and a Rigid Axle Multi-link Rear suspension. The car manages to constrain its turning radius to 5.35m

The Style

  • The looks of the TUV300 are reminiscent of the Jeep Cherokee and the T8 and T6 variants come with chrome inserts for the front grill, whereas the chrome accents for the fog lamps are exclusive to the T8 variants
  • Like the fog lamps, the alloy wheels are also only available in the T8 variants
  • The T8 variant also comes with a moulded spare wheel casing and all the other models receive a vinyl cover
  • The car features a twin-pod instrument cluster, which comes with chrome rings and silver accents on AC vents in the T8 and T8 AMT variants
  • Unlike other compact SUVs, the TUV300 offers convenience of a 7 seater (5+2)

The Tech

  • The T8 variants come with Static -Bending Headlamps and Intellipark reverse assist
  • TUV300 also offers entertainment features like a infotainment system with display screen, 2-DIN Audio and Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity
  • All the variants of the TUV300 come with ECO mode but the Micro-Hybrid technology is only available in the T8 variant
  • The T6 and T8 variants also feature Mahindra BLUE SENSE Mobile App and voice Messaging System(VMs)

The Safety

  • TUV 300 offers front airbags in all of its variants, excluding the base T4 model. The same models will also feature ABS with EBD
  • Safety features like a collapsible Steering Column, Side Intrusion Beams, Digital Immobilizer, seat belt reminder lamp and auto door lock, while driving are available throughout the models
  • All of the T6 and T8 variants come with an anti-theft warning system
  • Mahindra seems to have prioritized safety of the passengers by ensuring most of these features are available throughout all of the variants.
