Kia Sonet Records Over 50,000 Bookings In Just 2 Months

The premium sub-4m SUV is priced from Rs 6.71 lakh

• Bookings for the Kia Sonet have been officially underway since August 20 and its prices were announced on September 18.

• Kia has received more than 50,000 bookings so far for its premium sub-4m SUV offering. 

• The Sonet is priced between Rs 6.71 lakh and Rs 12.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

• It gets a choice of three engines and multiple transmission options.

• The Sonet gets features like ventilated front seats, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a Bose sound system.

Kia had officially opened bookings for its newest offering, the Sonet, on August 20. In the two months since, the premium sub-4m SUV has recorded 50,000 bookings. The prices for the Sonet were announced on September 18 and deliveries are well under way with over 9,000 units having been dispatched in September itself.

The Sonet is offered with various powertrain options: a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The naturally aspirated petrol is mated to a 5-speed manual and the turbo-petrol is offered with the choice of a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Meanwhile, the diesel engine gets the choice of both a 6-speed manual and a segment-first 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

It is equipped with several premium comforts such as ventilated front seats, a sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, built-in air purifier, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The Sonet also gets a Bose premium audio system, up to six airbags, driving and traction modes as well as front and rear parking sensors. Its top-spec GT Line variant looks sportier than the standard Tech Line variants.

The Kia Sonet is still available at introductory prices ranging from Rs 6.71 lakh to Rs 12.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Toyota Urban Cruiser as well as upcoming models like the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
