India Bound Suzuki Vitara Prices and Specifications Announced For Europe

Suzuki has announced the pricing of the new Vitara in UK, sales will begin from this April. Vitara’s prices start from £13,999 (approximately Rs. 13.44 Lac) for base 1.6L petrol (2WD) and goes up-to £21,299 (approximately Rs. 20.44 Lac) for the top-end 1.6L DDiS ALL-GRIP (AWD) diesel in UK.

The new Suzuki Vitara was unveiled at the last year’s Paris Motor Show and is based on the IV-4 concept. Speaking of the Indian debut, as Maruti still sells the Grand Vitara, the new SUV is expected to enter in early 2016.

The Vitara nameplate is over 25 years old and the 2015 SUV puts a fresh new design to it. And features several contemporary add-ons -  projector headlamps, daytime-running-LEDs, machined alloys, etc. On the inside, dashboard is a similar Suzuki territory, European models also feature contrasting dashboard appliqués and it gets a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system featuring Navigation and smartphone integration.

Safety

Apart from the airbags (seven airbags fitted as standard including driver’s knee airbag) and ABS, Vitara offers Brake-Support System, light & impact absorbing body, speed limiter, ESP (Electronic-Stability-Programme), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Engines

The new Vitara is offered with both petrol and diesel motors. The petrol trims get a ‘M16A’ 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine chucking out 120 PS @ 6000 rpm and 156 Nm of max torque @ 4400 rpm. Petrol engine gets an option of 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

India is most likely to get a diesel heart this time with the Vitara

Diesel Vitara gets a ‘D16AA’ 1.6-litre DDiS engine that sports an electronically controlled VGT – Variable Geometry Turbocharger along with EGR (Exhaust-Gas-Recirculation) system. The oil burner musters 120 PS @ 3750 rpm, similar to that of petrol, while generating a healthy torque of 320 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The new Vitara features Suzuki's ALLGRIP four wheel drive technology. The 4x4 version comes with four modes, namely, Auto, Snow, Sport and Lock. The engine comply with Euro 6 emission norms.
