The Hyundai Exter gets two new variants, namely the S Smart and SX Smart, prices of which start from Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 8.16 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, pan-India). These two new variants come with both petrol and CNG powertrain options.
The new S Smart and SX Smart variants are based on the existing EX(O) and S Plus variants. Here’s how their prices differ:

The Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart variants make a few features more affordable than before. However, the S Smart variant commands a massive premium of Rs 1.12 lakh over the EX (O) variant. The SX Smart, on the other hand, commands a premium of up to Rs 23,000 over the S Plus variant.
What Do These Variants Get?
The S Smart offers LED DRLs, an electric sunroof, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and rear AC vents. With these updates, the Hyundai Exter S Smart becomes the entry-level petrol variant to come with a sunroof as it was earlier offered from the S Plus variant. Another interesting aspect is that it makes the AMT option more affordable by Rs 5,000.
The SX Smart variant offers projector headlights and a shark fin antenna which were available with the higher SX variants previously. It also gets a smart key with push-button start/stop that was earlier offered in the SX Tech onwards. This variant also comes with a single-pane sunroof. Both the SX and SX Tech variants are priced above the new SX Smart.

The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which can also be had with an optional CNG kit, which returns a reduced output. Here’s a look at its specifications:
