As we wrap up the month of May, the Indian automotive industry has seen a few but noteworthy happenings in the last week. The newly launched facelifted Tata Altroz has started arriving at showrooms, while the Volkswagen Golf GTI after its first lot of bookings was quickly sold out, has now been officially launched.
Land Rover has introduced another India-specific special edition for the flagship Range Rover. Meanwhile, Nissan has announced its future roadmap for the Indian market. Let’s take a look at all that’s happened.
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Reached Dealerships
The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift is the latest premium hatchback in the market, and its official bookings are set to open on June 2. It brings a refreshed design inside and out, along with a few added features to its cabin. The new Altroz is now available at dealerships.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Launched In India
The Volkswagen Golf GTI was officially launched this week at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). It has been brought to the Indian market as a completely built unit and in limited quantities. The first lot of the 265 PS performance hatchback was already spoken for, and it remains to be seen if the carmaker is planning to bring in more units.
Toyota Fortuner Achieved A Sales Milestone
The Toyota Fortuner nameplate has collectively hit a sales milestone of 3 lakh units since its debut in 2009. This includes both the standard Fortuner and the Fortuner Legender. The big SUV has long been a popular choice among Indian buyers, and the Fortuner Legender has further carried that legacy forward with added premiumness.
Nissan Launched Magnite CNG And Revealed Future Plans
Nissan India has launched the Magnite CNG but with a catch. The CNG kit is available as a retrofitment at authorised dealerships in select states only. It commands a premium of Rs 75,000 over the naturally aspirated petrol manual variants.
Nissan has also ended rumours regarding its exit from the Indian market by announcing the launch timeline of three new models, including a compact MPV, a compact SUV, and a 7-seater SUV.
Range Rover Masara Edition Launched
The Range Rover Masara Edition was launched this week, priced at Rs 4.99 crore (ex-showroom). This is the second India-specific special edition of the flagship SUV, following the previous Ranthambore Edition. It comes with bespoke styling details and is exclusively limited to 12 units.
2025 Tata Punch Facelift Spied
Spy shots of the 2025 Tata Punch facelift surfaced online this week. The camouflaged test mule revealed some interior design elements this time, in addition to the exterior design that was previously spotted. The Punch SUV was introduced in 2021 and has been a bestseller for the carmaker. The facelifted Punch could be launched sometime this year.
