The much awaited 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI has been launched in India at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). The VW Golf GTI is the second performance-oriented GTI model on our shores after the now-discontinued Polo GTI. VW has brought the Golf GTI as a fully imported unit and the first lot of the hot hatch has already been sold out.
2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI: Exterior Design
The Golf GTI, like any other Volkswagen, boasts clean lines with plenty of sporty design touches to give it a racy look.
Up front, you get dual-pod LED headlights with a full-width LED DRL and an illuminated VW logo that looks wow, especially at night. Sleek red detailing and a GTI badge on the grille are first hints that this ain’t an ordinary Golf. Lower down, the bumper with its honey comb detailing looks aggressive and the 5-piece fog lamps are mounted in them to form an X-motif.
The Golf GTI’s silhouette is understated with clean lines, giving it a tidy look. It sits much lower than the standard Golf and the 18-inch dual-tone alloys add to its hunkered down stance. There is a GTI badge on the front door to remind that this is the sporty version of the Golf. In India, VW offers the Golf GTI in four colour options: Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic.

Moving on to the back, the Golf GTI gets a neat looking wrap around LED tail lights. A bold rear bumper design with twin exhaust outlets round off the overall look.
2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI: Interior Design
On the inside, the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI comes with a minimalist dashboard that’s dominated by two screens. The driver gets to grip on a chunky 3-spoke steering wheel and there are splashes of ambient lighting across the car to give it a modern look. It gets a sports front seat with thick side bolsters and they get the iconic Tartan upholstery on them.
It’s also more practical than its immediate rival, courtesy of the fact that rear seat occupants get their own set of doors for ingress and egress.
2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI: Features Onboard
Top features onboard the VW Golf GTI include a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless phone charger and a 7-speaker sound system.
Passenger safety is taken care of by seven airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view parking camera as well as some advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI: Engine Options
Powering the Volkswagen Golf GTI is a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that belts out 265 PS and 370 Nm. All of that is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With the help of launch control, the Golf GTI can sprint from nought to 100 kmph in a claimed 5.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 267 kmph (speedo indicated).
It also gets some mechanical enhancements underneath the skin to aid handling. This includes a quicker steering rack and a stiffer suspension setup for better agility. The brakes have also been upgraded for better stopping power. And last but not least, there is an electronic differential lock, which sends power to the wheels with better traction for a better exit while cornering.
