The 2025 Tata Altroz gets a few convenience and safety features and a couple of powertrain options over the Hyundai i20
The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift debuted recently with prices ranging between Rs 6.89 lakh and Rs 11.49 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). It continues to rival established models including the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza. While we have already compared the updated Tata offering with the Baleno, how does it compete against the Hyundai i20? Let us find out.

Comparing the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines of both rivals, the performance output of both premium hatchbacks is the same. The i20, with a manual transmission, puts out 5 PS less than the Altroz, but it will not make a significant difference in real-world conditions.
The Altroz gets a diesel and a petrol+CNG option that will cater varied driving needs, both of which are not on offer in the Hyundai i20.

Both hatchbacks have a lot in common including LED headlights and a shark fin antenna. Common features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, single-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, auto AC with rear vents and paddle shifters. The safety suite is also similar with amenities including 6 airbags (as standard), rear parking sensors and a TPMS.
The Tata Altroz, however, gets flush-type door handles, LED fog lamps, connected LED tail lights, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker sound system and 360-degree camera, all of which are not available in the i20.
The Hyundai i20, on the other hand, gets puddle lamps, a more premium looking semi-leatherette seat upholstery and a subwoofer, all of which are not available in the updated Tata rival.
Verdict
The Tata Altroz facelift has evolved the design of the already-handsome looking model and has offered flush-type food handles and all-LED lighting with a light bar at the rear that makes it look modern. Inside, it is loaded with features including a segment-first digital driver’s display and 360-degree camera. Not just these, it gets a diesel and a CNG option, both of which are not offered with the i20. So, if you want a feature-loaded car and would like to have some powertrain options other than a NA petrol, you should go for the new Altroz.
The Hyundai i20, on the other hand, only gets a NA petrol engine, but it is more refined than the Tata Altroz’ engine. It also gets a slightly larger wheelbase which can provide it with a slightly better cabin space and decently loaded feature suite. If you want all this while compromising on some features, you should get the Hyundai i20.
