Two new variants, the M760Li xDrive and the M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence, have been added

BMW India has made a few changes to its product portfolio recently. While it has discontinued the 320i moniker and replaced it with two variants of the 330i, the German carmaker has added two new variants to the 7 Series lineup. The 7 Series variants are tagged as the M760Li xDrive and the M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence. Both are priced at Rs 2.27 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). That makes them both the most expensive BMWs that are currently on sale in India. They even trump the BMW i8’s price by Rs 13 lakh. Let’s find out what they are made of.

For a start, no matter which of the two versions you choose, you’d end up buying the most powerful BMW ever made. Both the variants are powered by the same 6.6-litre, twin-turbo, V12 petrol engine that pumps out 610PS of power and 800Nm of torque. Mated to the engine is an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission that sends power to the road via BMW’s xDrive (all-wheel-drive) system. BMW claims that the engine is tuned to deliver all the available torque from as low as 1,500rpm and the car can catapult to 100kmph from naught in a mere 3.7 seconds. Other noteworthy features of the automatic transmission are shift paddles on the steering wheel, launch control and auto start/stop.

On the outside, the M760Li xDrive twins get larger air inlets, cerium grey coloured frame and front surfaces of BMW’s iconic kidney grille, 20-inch M double-spoke 760 M alloy wheels, 19-inch M Sport braking system with blue calipers, M and V12 logos on the sides, cerium grey coloured air breather and door handles, M Sport exhaust system and V12 marking on the door sills. However, the exhaust systems on both these variants sound slightly different to each other. These trims, as you’d expect, come loaded with all the creature-comfort gadgetry that you can think of. On the whole, the V12 Excellence variant exhibits a more luxurious character while the standard M760Li xDrive lays its emphasis on being the more sportier-looking version.

The closest rivals to the BMW M760Li xDrive are the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 and the Audi A8 L W12.
