BMW 1 Series M Performance Edition launched at INR 22.65 lakh; only 111 units!

BMW 1 Series M Performance limited edition is launched in India at a price tag of INR 22.65 lakh for the petrol variant while the diesel starts at INR 25.60 lakh. Only 111 special version of the luxury hatch will be available at selected dealerships as this is dealer backed initiative. The sales of the 1 Series M Performance Edition have already started.

The Ex-Showroom Prices For Both Petrol and Diesel are -

Petrol:

BMW 116i M Performance Edition : INR 22,65,000

Diesel:

BMW 118d M Performance Edition : INR 25,60,000
BMW 118d Sport M Performance Edition : INR 28,55,000
BMW 118d Sport Plus M Performance Edition : INR 32,50,000

Mechanically, the M Performance edition is similar to the outgoing 1 Series and is available in both Diesel and Petrol. The petrol is powered by a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder motor mustering 136bhp and a max torque of 220Nm. On the diesel front, it gets a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo motor gathering 143bhp in between 4000rpm while a max torque of 320Nm is generated in between the engine speed of 1750-2500rpm. The diesel accelerates from 0-100k/h in 8.6 seconds with an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 20.58km/l.

The major competitor of the BMW 1 Series is the Mercedes Benz A Class; Merc has already launched the special sporty editions of the A Class christened as Edition 1. to counter attack this BMW is back with a BMW 1 Series M Performance Edition. These German rivalries is never ending, Audi is launching A3 on August 7 and is offering S sports line in the A3.
