  • TUV300 is still waiting for its BS6-compliant engine along with a minor tweak to its front end to make it compliant with pedestrian safety norms.

  • It will likely get a BS6 version of the same 1.5-litre diesel engine and transmission options as before.

  • Updated TUV300 is expected to add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility to its 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

  • Mahindra is likely to launch the BS6 TUV300 this festive season along with the facelifted TUV300 Plus.

Mahindra’s lineup has seen several updates and launches being delayed due to the pandemic and the lockdown earlier in the year. Since then, the brand has rolled out a few BS6 updates with the most recent one being the second-gen Thar. However, a few models such as the TUV300 sub-4m SUV are still waiting in the wings. It is due to get a BS6-compliant engine and a small facelift to make it compliant with the latest pedestrian protection norms, and it has recently been spied again.

The TUV300 was already given a facelift in 2019 but the spied test mule can be seen with camouflage over its tweaked front end design for an updated front bumper and grille. Under that tall bonnet, expect the TUV300 to be powered by the BS6-compliant version of the same 1.5-litre diesel engine as before that used to make 100PS of power and 240Nm of torque. It will likely get the same 5-speed manual gearbox but the AMT is unlikely to return as seen on the 2019 facelift.

The 2019 TUV300 already got comforts like keyless entry, height-adjustable driver’s seat, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also came with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage as standard. The updated TUV300 is expected to add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity to its infotainment system.

Mahindra is likely to launch the BS6 TUV300 around the upcoming festive season at a slight premium over the previous model which was priced between Rs 8.54 lakh and Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom). With the TUV300, Mahindra will likely introduce the facelifted TUV300 Plus MPV version as well. The TUV300 will take on the likes of the XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon as well as the upcoming Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
