605 Horsepower Audi RS 7 Performance Launched At Rs 1.59 Crore

The performance sportback completes the 0-100kmph run in just 3.7 seconds

If blistering performance isn’t enough, the Audi RS 7 ‘Performance’ is here! Launched at Rs 1,59,65,000 (just under Rs 1.60 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi), the sportback uses the same 4.0-litre TFSI bi-turbo V8 engine as the standard RS 7, but bumps the power output up from 560PS to 605PS, while the torque output goes up by a full 50Nm to 750Nm through the ‘Overboost’ torque-on-demand function.

The result? While the standard RS 7 does the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.9 seconds, the Performance pack shaves it down to 3.7 seconds. Even the top speed isn’t limited to 250kmph and goes up to 305kmph. The rest of the powertrain is, of course, the same and apart from employing an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox, the car also uses Audi’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system that has a vital role to play in power/torque distribution.

Other differences include 21-inch wheels as standard instead of 20-inchers, a few gunmetal accents on the outside and a ‘drive select’ button on the steering wheel to shuffle through the drive modes – Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual.

The RS 7 will be sold as a direct import in India and, of course, with the performance it offers and the price it comes for, Audi isn’t really expecting to sell many. The only direct rival currently on sale in India is the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, which is more expensive at Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Time for a comparo?
