Volkswagen Tayron SUV Spotted In India In Its R-Line Avatar, India Launch Confirmed?
The Volkswagen Tayron is essentially the 7-seater version of the VW Tiguan, which went on sale on April 14, 2025
The 5-seater Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line went on sale in India in April 2025 and now its 7-seater version, known as the Volkswagen Tayron, was spotted testing in Chandrapur, Maharashtra in its R-Line avatar. It must be noted that the carmaker is yet to make an announcement if the VW Tayron will be launched in India or not. Nevertheless, let us take a look at everything that was noticeable on the spotted Tayron.
What Was Spotted?
The spotted Tayron featured an exterior design that is similar to the 2025 Tiguan R-Line that went on sale on April 14. It gets the same connected LED tail lights and projector LED headlights with a light bar that connects them. Beneath the light bar is gloss black trim, with an ‘R’ badge like the 5-seater sibling. Such a badge is also present in the front door to denote that it’s the sportier variant. The dual-tone alloy wheels are also the same as the Tiguan R Line. There is also a Tayron badge beneath the tail lights.

What’s different on the VW Tayron is the number of seats. While the Tiguan R Line gets 5 seats, the Tayron gets an additional pair of seats in the third row owing to its elongated size. Here’s a detailed look at the dimensions of both SUVs:

India Launch And Rivals
The India launch of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is yet to be announced, but if launched, it will command a premium over the Tiguan R Line, which costs Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a sportier alternative to the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian in India.
