Tata introduces a revolutionary new petrol engine
Home grown brand Tata Motors introduced a new petrol engine today. This is the new 1.2-litre turbocharged called as Revotron 1.2T. This is the first turbo petrol engine from Tata Motors. The Indian car manufacturer has been building engines for the last 30 years.
The company has designed and manufactured about 3 million engines so far. As the petrol engines are major selling ones, it is another reason why Tata Motors has developed one for increasing its footprint in this segment. Majority of Tata sales happens with Diesel engines.
Several manufacturers have introduced downsized petrol engines beginning from Fiat, Skoda, Volkswagen and Ford already have turbo petrol mills.
The Revotron 1.2T has various driving modes like performance and economy. The first engine will produce about 83bhp at 5000 rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1750-2000rpm. This is a water-cooled turbocharger. It has 20 innovation features, and this is a cast iron block and steel materials.
The engine is also capable of handling CNG, and Tata will introduce one at a later stage.
Being born and brought up in a family that has been a part of the Automotive industry for over seven decades, Rachit has cars in his blood.
