Rolls-Royce India aims to sell 50 units in year 2010

Rolls-Royce Cars, a subsidiary of British luxury-car maker BMW, aims to sell as much as 50 units of its luxury cars in India, this year. The company is expecting a major contribution in its sales from its recently launched Ghost 2010 series, as per a statement given by company's authorized dealership in the Indian market. It currently has three luxury cars in its Indian portfolio including Rolls Royce Drophead, Rolls Royce Phantom and Rolls Royce Ghost.

According to Mr Sharad Kachalia, Director, Sales and Marketing, Navnit Motors (the authorised Rolls Royce dealer for West and South region), the company is getting an overwhelming response for the car in the country. It would take normally 2-3 months for the delivery of the car after a confirmed order, as briefed to the reporters on the sidelines of the launch of Rolls Royce-Ghost in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Kachalia further said that the demand for the Rolls Royce cars is slowly shifting from royal families to young entrepreneurs who are successful in their ventures, The company expects to sell 50 units this year, he added. Emphasising on the durability and quality of the Rolls-Royce, Mr Kachalia said that as much as 90 pc of the 700 cars of the company which were imported to India during pre-independence days are still running on roads even after 60-70 years.

The recently rolled-out Rolls Royce Ghost is available in a price range of Rs 2.5-Rs 2.7 crore in the Indian market. Interestingly, the company has already sold about 30 units of its cars in the country.
