MG Hikes Prices Of The Comet EV, Hector, Hector Plus And Gloster By Up To Rs 1.50 Lakh
The Comet EV with a battery rental plan has become more affordable by up to Rs 32,000, but the subscription cost has gone up from Rs 2.5 to Rs 2.9 per km
MG has hiked the prices of the Comet EV, Hector, Hector Plus and the Gloster. Amongst this, the lowest price hike was for the MG Hector and Hector Plus which saw its prices increase to up to Rs 27,000. Even the flagship MG Gloster has received a humongous price hike. Meanwhile, the MG Comet EV with the battery rental fee has seen a price decrease. However, if you opt for the Comet as an outright purchase, customers will now have to shell up to Rs 36,000 more than before.

Prices of the Comet EV with the battery subscription plan have gone down by up to Rs 32,000. However, the battery rental fee has been increased from Rs 2.5 per km to Rs 2.9 per km now. On the other hand, without the battery subscription fee, the EV’s prices have gone up by Rs 36,000.
The MG Comet EV is the carmaker's most affordable offering in India. It gets a 17.4 kWh battery pack that powers a rear-axle-mounted (RWD) electric motor that puts out 42 PS and 110 Nm. It has a claimed range of 230 km and can be charged from 0-100 percent in 3.5 hours with a 7.4 kW AC charger. It competes with the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 in India.

The 5-seater MG Hector comes with two engine options: a 143 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 170 PS 2-litre diesel engine. While the petrol option gets the choice of both manual and CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission), the diesel engine is only paired with a manual gearbox.
As the table suggests, the prices of the turbo-petrol variants have gone up by Rs 25,000, while the diesel trims cost the same as before. The MG Hector is now priced between Rs 14.25 lakh and Rs 23.14 lakh and it locks horns with the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass in India.

The 6- and 7-seater versions of the Hector, called the Hector Plus also gets the same engine as the Hector. Prices of its turbo-petrol variants were hiked by up to Rs 27,000, while some of the diesel trims saw a minimal surge in price of up to Rs 2,000. It rivals the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar.

The MG Gloster is the carmaker’s flagship SUV that gets a choice between a 161 PS 2-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 216 PS 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, both mated with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Prices of all of its variants have been hiked by Rs 1.50 lakh. Its prices now range between Rs 41.07 lakh and Rs 46.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and it rivals the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
