The Hector facelift is set to receive a serious design makeover, as well as updated features, including a new infotainment system

(Update: The 2025 MG Hector and Hector Plus facelift has been launched with their turbo petrol variants. The prices of the diesel trims will be announced in 2026.)
MG is set to unveil the Hector facelift and its 7-seater version Hector Plus facelift on December 15 – a car that marked the beginning of the carmaker's story on Indian shores in 2019. This will be the first major update to Hector’s lineage since its inception in India. As part of this, the SUV is expected to introduce several updates, both in its exterior design and its feature set.
The teaser gives us a glimpse at its revised fascia for now. Besides, MG has chosen to keep things familiar in the lighting department with the headlights, taillights, and LED DRLs. Here’s a breakdown of what we could spot in the fresh teaser.
What Is Spotted?
The grille; that is what MG has flaunted to us. MG has done away with the existing diamond-like pattern on the grille design, which has now been replaced with the more premium-looking vertical paired-line motifs, all that finished in chrome. Keen-eyed viewers would also notice the new skid plate. The lighting elements look familiar, with the LED DRLs and the triple-pod headlight and foglight setup being positioned exactly where they already are presently.

The silhouette looks no different from the about-to-be outgoing model. A previous teaser has also shown us the taillamps of the Hector facelift, which again are carried over from the present car. That said, the 2026 Hector could carry freshly designed dual-tone alloy wheels. Let’s step inside next.
Expected Features Onboard
There’s no revelation on things on the inside; however, we expect the Hector facelift to bring an updated infotainment system altogether, which can possibly be a 15.6-inch touchscreen as found in the Windsor EV. Besides, it will carry forward its other modern features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with powered driver & co-driver seats, wireless phone charger, cruise control, and ambient lighting.

Safety duties will be done by 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an electronic stability program (ESP), a traction control system, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, front parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor. It also gets Level 2 ADAS.
Expected Powertrain
The engine and transmission options would likely remain the same, specifications of which are as follows:
| Engine |
1.5-litre turbo-petrol |
2-litre diesel |
| Power |
143 PS |
170 PS |
| Torque |
250 Nm |
350 Nm |
| Transmission |
6-speed MT/ CVT* |
6-speed MT |
*CVT- continuously variable automatic transmission
Expected Launch & Rivals
The MG Hector is expected to be launched in early 2026, a few months after its December 15 debut. With it, its 7-seater variant Hector Plus will also likely be introduced, both of which will refresh their rivalry with Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio N and Mahindra XUV700 (which is also slated for a facelift, and will now be renamed to XUV7XO), as well as Hyundai Alcazar.
