Update: 05 August, 2015, Maruti has launched its first crossover, S Cross in the Indian auto market today at a price tag of Rs 8.34 lac, ex-showroom, New Delhi. Check more on the S Cross launch.

Maruti, the largest carmaker in the country do not want to miss this favorable time as it is all set to launch its first ever crossover S-Cross in India. In the midst of floating news about the car, Maruti has officially commenced the booking of the car. Maruti S Cross will be sold via company's new 'Nexa' dealerships across the country. Maruti S-Cross is pitted against upcoming Hyundai Creta and some of the formidable names in the class such as Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano. The car will come with features like projector headlamps, LED position lamps and 16-inch radials. The interiors are adorned in all-black with chrome inserts on AC louvers. Not to mention, there will be goodies like cruise control, automatic air conditioning and 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. As per the engine options, sadly there would be only diesel mills to power this car. The 1.6 liter powertrain chucks out 120PS while the lower 1.3 liter Fiat sourced Multi-jet diesel engine generates 90PS. The vehicle will come mated to 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmission. There is a bit disappointment as Maruti is not offering any automatic or AWD model, as of now.
