Maruti Baleno And Maruti Ertiga Get Safer With 6 Airbags As Standard

In a move to increase the safety appeal of its cars, Maruti has now updated the Maruti Baleno and Maruti Ertiga with six airbags as standard across all their variants. The carmaker has also stated that this update will result in a 0.5 percent increase in the prices of the Baleno and a 1.4 percent hike for the Ertiga.
Notably, the Baleno was recently crash-tested by Bharat NCAP for both its dual airbag and six airbag variants. It secured a 4-star safety rating with six airbags which will now be applicable for all the trims. The Ertiga, however, is yet to undergo the BNCAP assessment, whereas it scored a 1-star rating under stricter protocols in the Global NCAP test for the South African market.
Now that both these cars offer enhanced safety in their lower variants as well, let’s take a look at all the things they bring to the table.
Maruti Baleno Overview
The Maruti Baleno is a premium hatchback available in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.
Key features in the Baleno include a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a heads-up display, cruise control, a 6-speaker ARKAMYS sound system, and auto AC with rear vents.
With this update, the Baleno comes standard with six airbags, in addition to other key safety features, including ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
The Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine along with an optional CNG kit. The specifications are as follows:

The Maruti Ertiga MPV is available in four variants: Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and Zxi Plus.
The Ertiga is equipped with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto AC with rear vents, a 6-speaker ARKAMYS sound system and cruise control.
Its safety kit now has 6 airbags as standard, besides features like electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold assist, and a rear parking camera with sensors.
The Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with an optional CNG kit. Here are the specifications:

Price & Rivals
The Maruti Baleno’s existing prices ranged from Rs 6.70 lakh to Rs 9.92 lakh. It rivals the Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz facelift.
The Maruti Ertiga was priced from Rs 8.97 lakh to Rs 13.26 lakh before its price increase. It competes with the Toyota Innova Crysta and Kia Carens.
