Mahindra Reveals Future Plans: New Platform To Debut On August 15 And 5 Models Slated For Launch In 2026
SUVs based on the upcoming platform will be built in the carmaker’s new facility in Chakan, Pune which will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh models
2024 has been a busy year for Mahindra with notable launches including the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9e. Now, in its recent earnings call, Mahindra has confirmed that it will unveil a new SUV platform on August 15, 2025. Along with this, it has also revealed its future plans in India. Here are the details:
Mahindra’s New Platform Debut On August 15
Mahindra has confirmed that it will debut a new platform on August 15. While we are yet to know the details, multiple online reports suggest that it’s a monocoque platform that can support various powertrain options such as petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. Details about the first car that will be based on this platform are yet to come to light as well.
Notably, Mahindra has set up a new manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune which will manufacture 1.2 lakh models per year based on the new platform.
Mahindra’s Future Plans
Mahindra has confirmed that it will be introducing 7 new ICE SUVs and 5 EVs in India by 2030. Out of that, 3 ICE SUVs and 2 EVs will debut next year in 2026. The carmaker has also confirmed that 2 of the ICE products will be mid-cycle facelifts, which we expect to be the Mahindra Thar facelift and Mahindra XUV700 facelift. And while the carmaker is yet to reveal details of the remaining 1 new-gen model, our guess is that it could either be the new-gen Bolero or a possible Hyundai Creta rival.
