Apart from the introduction of the new Range Rover at the Paris Motor Show 2012, the British carmaker, Land Rover also featured the Land Rover Defender which was driven in the James Bond movie Skyfall and the European 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2. There was also the special edition Range Rover CSK heritage two-door vehicle which carried the Range Rover’s first creator, Charles Spencer King’s name. The Paris Opera also showcased and evening of Range Rover celebration with the new fourth generation model along with its predecessors to demonstrate the evolution of its designs since 1970.

The 2013 Freelander 2 made its second public appearance after its unveiling that happened during the Moscow Motor Show which was held in August. There are significant changes in the new version with interiors having a more comfortable and convenient feel along with exteriors that deliver a sportier feel with the sharp new front and rear light units along with the LED technology. The interiors are now with three new color ways with a new center console, telephone and navigation functions which come as an option along with more sophisticated and powerful surround sound audio system from Meridian. There is also the passive start, electric parking brake, ‘Say What You See’ voice activation along with a rear view camera that uses the ‘Hitch Assist’ guide which ensures an accurate and simple lining up of the tow ball with trailers.

This year Land Rover also celebrates 50 years of James Bond and displayed the Land Rover Defenders used in the latest James Bond movie, the Skyfall which hits the theatres on 26th October. Commenting on Land Rover and the association with James Bond, the co-Producer of Skyfall, Andrew Noakes said: “Bond is quintessentially British and Land Rover is one of the most established and globally recognised British brands, so it was a natural step for us to involve them in the film.”

Land Rover also accepted two awards at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The awards were accepted by the Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern. He has been honoured as a European auto industry leader in design as one of the winners of the Automotive News Europe’s 2012 Eurostars awards. The Eurostars are the international business publisher’s annual awards to the men and women they consider to have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their field in the motor industry. The trophy was received at a presentation dinner hosted by Automotive News Europe's publisher ahead of the international Paris Motor Show on 26 September.

The jury of Women's World Car of the Year, which comprises women motoring writers from 12 countries, bestowed the Range Rover Evoque with its coveted Women's World Car of the Year award. The Evoque also took top honours in its category of ‘Luxury Car’. McGovern said: “We are delighted to accept this award, which demonstrates the Range Rover Evoque's broad appeal globally. The Evoque has been a phenomenal success to date, having won over 120 awards in its first year of being on sale.”
