Extremely High Chances That The Lexus NX, Which Goes Up Against The Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 And The Audi Q3, Will Enter The Indian Market Soon!

Lexus, Toyota’s luxury wing, has announced that it will reveal the NX facelift, the manufacturer’s entry-level compact SUV, at the Auto Shanghai 2017. There is a high possibility that Lexus, which was officially introduced in India on March 24, 2017, will launch this SUV in the country since the NX goes up against the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Audi Q3, which are very popular here.

In its official press release, Lexus has not revealed much about the 2018 NX. Instead, it says that the mid-life update of the SUV will come with ‘updated exterior design, and interior enhancements that add convenience and functionality’. Expect improved aesthetics and additional features with similar mechanicals as is the case with most of the model facelifts around the world. Speaking with respect to the Indian market, if Lexus decides to launch it, we’ll get this updated model like the Lexus ES sedan that the automaker has launched in the country.

The outgoing model made its world premiere at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in April. It is powered by a choice of naturally aspirated or turbocharged petrol engine along with a hybrid powertrain globally. If launched here, we are likely to get the hybrid and the turbo petrol versions. The NX 300h hybrid packs a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine (similar to the Camry Hybrid) coupled to electric motors that produces a total output of 194PS. The NX 200T is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, which puts out 235PS of max power and 350Nm of peak torque. The hybrid version is mated to an ECVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission), while the turbocharged model is mated to a six-speed automatic. Stay tuned to CarDekho for its reveal next month.
