The month of May turned out to be quite exciting for car buyers in India, especially for those interested in something other than SUVs. Whether you are in the market looking for fun-to-drive hatchbacks, a practical people mover or a special edition, there was something for everyone. In this report, we provide a brief overview of all the cars launched in the Indian market in May 2025.
Kia Carens Clavis
Price: Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
Kia launched the Carens Clavis at a starting price tag of Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered alongside the Carens, which is available in just one Premium (O) variant. Design-wise the Carens Clavis features a more upmarket styling with all-LED lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, along with a dual-tone navy blue and beige interior. It is offered in both six and seven seat layout options.
Feature highlights include dual 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, and a 4-way powered driver’s seat. Safety features include six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS. The Carens Clavis is available with three engine options, including a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbo-petrol, and a diesel engine.
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift
Price: Rs 6.89 lakh toRs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom)
Tata Motors announced the prices of the Altroz facelift after unveiling it in the first half of May. The 2025 Altroz gets styling updates to both its exterior and its interior, along with multiple new features. Key highlights include new dual-pod LED headlights, connected LED tail lights, and a refreshed cabin with an illuminated steering wheel and a segment-first digital driver’s display.
It also comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 360-degree camera. The facelifted Altroz continues to be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options and can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Nissan Magnite CNG
Price: Rs 6.89 lakh to Rs 10.02 lakh (ex-showroom)
Nissan launched the CNG variants for the Magnite, which costs Rs 75,000 more than the corresponding petrol-powered variants. However, unlike most CNG offerings, the Magnite will be retrofitted with a CNG kit at authorised dealerships.
It is only available with the 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Currently, the Magnite CNG is available in select states, including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. Nissan has not made any changes to the feature set of the Magnite CNG.
Citroen C3 CNG
Price: Rs 7.16 lakh to Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom)
Like the Magnite CNG, you can also get the Citroen C3 with a CNG option through dealer-approved retrofitment option. Price premium for CNG option is Rs 93,000 over respective petrol-powered variants. It is available only with the 82 PS naturally aspirated engine, and Citroen claims it will deliver 28.1 km/kg of fuel efficiency. The brand is offering a standard warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh km on the CNG tank and other related components.
Hyundai i20 Gets New Variants
Price: Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom)
Hyundai launched a new Magna Executive variant for the i20, positioned between the Era and Magna trim options. It is priced at Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets a feature addition in the form of a tyre pressure monitoring system over the base Era variant. The i20 is now also available with the CVT transmission option from the Magna variant onwards. This variant also gets the addition of a single-pane sunroof.
Meanwhile, the Sportz (O) variant gets upgrades like push-button start/stop and a 7-speaker Bose sound system. However, prices of it have gone up by Rs 18,000 for the automatic transmission choice and Rs 28,000 for the manual gearbox option.
Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart
Price: Rs 7.68 lakh to Rs 9.18 lakh (ex-showroom)
Hyundai also tweaked the variant lineup of the Exter with the launch of two new trims, S Smart and SX Smart. Priced at Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 8.16 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, these variants make features like a sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and push-button start/stop more accessible. Notably, both Exter variants are also offered with a CNG option as well.
MG Windsor Exclusive Pro
Price (with Battery-as-a-Rental service): Rs 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom) + Rs 4.5 per km
Price (vehicle as a whole): Rs 17.25 lakh (ex-showroom)
MG expanded the Windsor Pro lineup with the launch of a new Exclusive Pro variant, priced from Rs 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It sits between the existing Essence and Essence Pro trims and makes the larger 52.9 kWh battery pack more affordable by Rs 85,000. Key features include, 15.6-inch infotainment system, connected car tech, and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system. Bookings for Windsor EV Exclusive Pro are open with a token amount of Rs 11,000, while deliveries will begin from the first week of June.
Volkswagen Golf GTI
Price: Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom)
After a long wait, Volkswagen launched the Golf GTI in India at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 265 PS and 370 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Golf GTI accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 267 kmph. Feature highlights include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, and a three-zone climate control system. All said, the first batch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI in India is already sold out.
Jeep Wrangler Willys ‘41 Special Edition
Price: Rs 73.24 lakh (ex-showroom)
Last but not least on this list is the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Willys ‘41 Special Edition, priced at Rs 73.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The Wrangler Willys ‘41 Special Edition featured a design inspired by the iconic 1941 Willys Jeep, highlighted by an exclusive “41 Green” shade and a “1941” hood decal. It also came with powered side steps, front and rear dash cameras, and offered optional add-ons like a sunrider rooftop and a roof ladder for an additional Rs 4.56 lakh. Based on the Rubicon variant, the Wrangler Willys ‘41 was limited to just 30 units and have been spoken for.
