Not only does the Harrier EV get a couple of feature additions, but it boasts a big advantage over the XEV 9e in the mechanical department
The flagship 2025 Tata Harrier EV has been launched at Rs 21.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It takes on Mahindra’s electric SUV coupe, the Mahindra XEV 9e. While both the EVs are well-equipped machines, the Tata Harrier EV gets these 6 things over the XEV 9e:
Dual-motors
The Harrier EV is the first Tata EV to be equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drivetrain. This puts out 396 PS collectively, in which the front and rear motors put out 158 PS and 238 PS respectively. The combined torque output for the AWD Harrier EV stands at 504 Nm.
In contrast, the Mahindra XEV 9e is currently offered only with rear-wheel drive.
14.5-inch Infotainment
The Harrier EV comes with a large 14.5-inch infotainment display using a Samsung QLED panel. While this is bigger than the XEV 9e’s 12.3-inch central infotainment screen, the Mahindra EV still has an edge with a triple-screen setup with a dedicated screen for the co-driver.
Digital IRVM With Dashcam
The Harrier EV’s internal rear view mirror (IRVM) projects the feed from the rearview camera mounted on the sharkfin antenna as a virtual display giving you a better and unobstructed view. Not only that, the IRVM also houses a dashcam, which will come useful in case of an unfortunate event on the road.
The Mahindra XEV 9e only gets an auto-dimming IRVM.
Transparent Mode
Both the Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e get a 360-degree camera for safety. But the Harrier EV’s camera is also capable of projecting the view of what’s underneath the vehicle’s bonnet. This particular addition over the XEV 9e will come useful when you’re driving the Tata Harrier EV offroad.
Summon Mode
The Harrier EV gets a Summon functionality which basically allows you to move the car back and forth at low speeds using its key fob. This isn’t offered with the XEV 9e. However, do note that both the EVs share an auto-park assist feature which is different from this and facilitates a full-fledged parking of the car automatically.
Six Terrain Modes
The Harrier EV gets six terrain modes Normal, Rock Crawl, Mud Ruts, Snow/Grass, Sand, and a Custom mode. The XEV 9e in comparison features only three drive modes namely Range, Everyday and Race.
The Mahindra XEV 9e is priced between Rs 21.90 lakh and Rs 30.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Harrier EV’s full price list is yet to be announced, but the base variant is priced at Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
