    Pre-launch bookings for the Golf GTI have been stopped as the first lot of the iconic hatchback has already been sold out 

    The Volkswagen Golf GTI has finally been landed in India at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom).  The performance-oriented hot hatchback has been brought in limited numbers on our shores as a fully imported unit, and the first batch has already been pre-booked. If you’re keen on take a closer look about this iconic model from the German carmaker, here’s a closer look at it with real-life images:

    Front

     

    The Volkswagen Golf GTI’s nose looks aggressive with a sleek LED headlight unit with full-width LED DRLs. 

    A thin red strip spans across the width of the fascia over the grille that continues over the DRLs too, giving it  character. There is also a GTI badge on the grille. 

     

    The aggressively styled bumper has a honeycomb mesh grille for the airdams and five-piece LED foglamps set on either side, forming an X-shape.

    Side

     

    The Golf GTI boasts clean lines, which is typical of a Volkswagen. It sits on  stylish 18-inch dual tone alloy wheels with red-inserts on the brake callipers for a sporty look. 

    You’ll also find a GTI badge on the front door, denoting its sportier status. 

    Rear

     

    At the rear, it features wraparound LED tail lights and a prominent GTI badge on the tailgate. 

     

    The sporty look is completed by a bold rear bumper with dual round exhaust tips.

    Interior

     

    The cabin of the Volkswagen Golf GTI mirrors the sporty vibe of its exterior. It features an all-black theme inside with red highlights for added contrast. Ambient lighting runs across the cabin, giving it a modern and premium feel, especially at night.

    The dashboard has a clean and minimalistic design finished entirely in black. It has a  freestanding 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. 

    The flat-bottom, three-spoke steering wheel comes with a silver insert surrounding and houses various controls for the audio, digital driver’s display and ADAS. It also has a red accent with the GTI badge at the bottom, adding to the look.

     

    The sports front seats have thick side bolsters to hold you in place when you’re cornering hard with the car. It also has the iconic Tartan upholstery with a checkered pattern, reminiscent of the carmaker’s GTI models. 

    At the back, the rear seats are equipped with adjustable headrests for added comfort, including one for the centre passenger. It’s also mighty practical as rear seat passengers have their own set of doors for ingress and egress. 

    You also get a centre armrest too with cupholders, as well as rear AC vents to keep passengers comfortable. 

    Features & Safety

    The Volkswagen Golf GTI is feature loaded with all the essentials you will need. It gets amenities like the 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system we talked about above, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push button start/stop and a 7-speaker sound system.

     

    Its safety suite has features like 7 airbags, a rear-view parking camera, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors.

    The engine delivers enough punch to propel the Golf GTI to a speedo-indicated top speed of 267 kmph. The pedal pushed hard – it accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds.

     

    The Golf GTI also features a stiffer suspension for sharper and more agile cornering. There’s also an electronic differential lock that sends power to the wheel with more grip, helping the car  exit better from corners. The brakes have also been upgraded for better stopping performance.
