The Kia Carens Clavis has debuted in India and as the previous leaks suggest, it will be available in 7 broad variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX and HTX Plus. Bookings of the premium MPV will commence from May 9 and prices are set to be announced on May 23. After launch, the Clavis MPV will co-exist alongside the Kia Carens. Though this MPV is based on the Kia Carens, it looks very different and has much more premium features on offer. Let us take a detailed look at everything the Kia Carens Clavis has to offer:

Exterior

The exterior design of the Kia Carens Clavis takes a lot of inspiration from the international-spec Kia EV5.

The fascia features new triangular three-pod LED headlights, which is outlined by angular LED DRLs. Unlike most modern day cars, the DRLs are not joined via any light bar. The grille is blanked-off and the bumper has a black portion with a faux silver skid plate.

The profile looks similar to the currently available Carens MPV with black body cladding on the wheel arches, silver roof rails, and body-coloured door handles and outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs). What’s different are the larger 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that make the Carens Clavis look stylish and modern.

The rear design is new with a connected LED tail light setup with an illuminated light bar. The rear bumper is black and features a silver skid plate, giving the MPV a rugged look.

The Kia Carens Clavis is available in 8 monotone colour options, including Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Gray, Sparkling Silver and Ivory Silver Gloss. Notably, all the colour options, except the new Ivory Silver Gloss, are shared with the Carens MPV.

Interior

Step inside the cabin, and you’ll be greeted with a dual-tone navy and beige theme and 3-rows of seating like the current-spec Carens sibling. However, the dashboard design is new and features a 2-spoke Syros-like steering wheel and floating dual displays, also borrowed from the premium sub-4m SUV. Beneath the infotainment is a slew of physical switches that can multifunction between the infotainment and the air conditioner at the touch of a button.

The centre console also gets a fairly modern design with some silver elements and features a wireless phone charger, cupholders and the gear selector stalk. Notably, the front seat backs feature foldable trays like in the Hyundai Alcazar.

Other features include a 9-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats and a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

Its safety suite includes new Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features such as adaptive cruise control and driver attention warning. Other than this, everything else is shared with the Carens, including 6 airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera, disc brake on all wheels, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
