The Jazz now gets a sleeker design without losing its sportiness and will be a petrol-only offering

  • Facelifted Honda Jazz due to launch tomorrow; pre-bookings have been open since the first week of August.

  • Launch date announcement trailer gives us first complete look at facelifted rear end.

  • It will be offered in three variants: V, VX and ZX (new top-spec variant).

  • Jazz will be a petrol-only offering in the BS6 era; gets manual and CVT transmission options.

  • The Jazz’s main feature update is the sunroof, limited to the top-spec ZX variant.

The Honda Jazz has been on hiatus for a few months now but it’s ready to return in a facelifted avatar with a BS6 petrol engine under the hood. It was officially unveiled a couple of weeks ago when Honda started accepting pre-bookings for its premium hatchback. Honda has now announced that it will be launching the facelifted Jazz on August 26, i.e., tomorrow.

The launch announcement also gave us our first official look at the entire rear end of the facelifted model model. It has the same distinctive tail lamp design as before but the rear bumper has been resculpted for a sportier and premium look, just like the new front bumper. However, this rear-end refresh is relatively mild compared to the updates to the Jazz’s front fascia which also gets new LED headlamps and grille design.

Apart from the mild restyling, the biggest addition to the facelifted Jazz is the sunroof. There seems to be no change to the car’s cabin and it will continue to be equipped with features like auto AC, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system and push-button start-stop along with a dual-tone theme. Honda will not offer Magic Seats with the facelifted version as well.

Select variant details of the new Jazz have already been leaked online, revealing that it will be offered in only three variants: V, VX and ZX. Each variant gets a few updates over the pre-facelift model but the biggest changes like the sunroof and LED headlamps and fog lamps are restricted to the new top-spec ZX varant. Meanwhile, cruise control has been added to the manual transmission option and is available as standard across variants. Honda’s smart key is also offered with the manual version of the VX variant which also gets a soft touch pad dashboard on the passenger side.

Honda Jazz Facelift Gets A Sunroof!

As part of the facelift, the Jazz will become a petrol-only offering, ditching the 1.5-litre diesel option. It will only be available with the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90PS and 110Nm and will be offered with the choice of a manual or CVT automatic transmission. The automatic option will be available from the mid-spec VX variant onwards.

The facelifted Jazz is expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will resume its rivalry with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Tata Altroz and the Hyundai Elite i20, which is due to get a generational update soon.
