New Audi A4 Spied Testing in India
Audi has started testing the new A4 in India, the sedan is bound to reveal this year reportedly at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Speaking of its Indian launch, expect it to be unveiled at 2016 Indian Auto Expo while launch will happen sometime next year. Audi A4 will continue to compete with Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series, as its arch rivals in the country.
Speaking of the new A4 (codenamed B9 internally), since Audi has introduced A3 sedan in 2013 which sits below the current A4. So the new A4 will be a little longer and wider to justify the price gap between the two. Moreover, the new A4 will be considerably lighter than the on-going car since it gets the new platform with which the 2015 second generation Q7 debuted.
This second generation of MLB platform which will underpin the new Ingolstadt automaker’s sedan is called MLB EVO. And all thanks to the platform's multi-material construction, the new A4 is approximately 100+ kilos lighter than the current B8 (codename) - A4. Apart from its fresh exterior design, it will get brand new interiors, similar to ones in the current Audis, pop-out infotainment display and less claustrophobic design. Moreover, the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation cluster can be expected in the new A4.
Mechanically, the next-gen A4 will get a range of TFSI and TDI powertrains used globally - 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 - TFSI petrols and 1.6, 2.0 TDI diesels, along with the powerful 3.0 TFSI and 3.0 TDI.
