Maruti Gives S-Presso CNG A New Heart, Prices Start From Rs 5.90 Lakh

• CNG variants are available on the LXI and VXI trims.

• Gets the same engine as the petrol version, but with lower output figures.

• Returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 32.73km/kg.

Maruti has relaunched the CNG variants of the S-Presso hatchback. The new variants come with the carmaker’s S-CNG technology and the Dual Jet 1.0-litre engine, which was introduced earlier this year in the hatch’s petrol model. The CNG variants are available on the LXI and VXI trims.

While the CNG variants of the hatchback get the same 1-litre Dual Jet petrol engine present in the petrol-only S-Presso, the engine delivers 56.69PS and 82.1Nm in CNG mode, down from 68PS and 90Nm when fed with petrol.

It comes with a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 32.73km/kg, which is 1.43km/kg more than before. The CNG variants are only available with a five-speed manual transmission.

The CNG variants of the S-Presso are priced between Rs 5.90 lakh and Rs 6.10 lakh (prices are ex-showroom) and they are close to a lakh rupees dearer than petrol-powered variants of the car.

In terms of features, there are no changes, you still get a Bluetooth music system, internally adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry, dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, cabin air filter and reverse parking sensors.
