India-bound Next-generation Toyota Fortuner launched in Indonesia
Toyota has launched the next-generation model of its premium SUV, Fortuner in Indonesia. The launch has followed the SUV’s introduction in the Phillipines market and the 2016 Fortuner has been launched in Indonesia with a price tag that ranges from Rp. 442,000,000 to Rp. 631,500,000.
World’s largest motor vehicle manufacturer, Toyota has launched the next-generation model of its premium SUV, Fortuner in Indonesia. The launch has followed the SUV’s introduction in the Phillipines market and the 2016 Fortuner has been launched in Indonesia with a price tag that ranges from Rp. 442,000,000 to Rp. 631,500,000 which in INR roughly translates into Rs. 22 lacs to Rs. 31 lacs. The SUV sources its foundation from the second generation Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. In Indonesia, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is offered in a total of 6 trims, which include both 4X2 and 4X4 drive configurations.
It is expected that the Indian variant of the next-gen Toyota Fortuner will be offered in two engine options. The top-of-the-line variants will include the new 2.8-liter diesel motor, which is capable of producing 174.3Bhp of power output. The four cylinder direct-injected turbodiesel also delivers a whopping 450Nm of peak torque, when mated to the company’s 6-Speed automatic transmission. The same powerplant produces 420Nm, when it is paired with the standard 6-Speed manual gearbox.
The powerplant might seem impressive but is outshined by both Chevrolet Trailblazer and the recently launched Ford Endeavour. Both of which have far superior power output and torque figures. There is also a possibility that Toyota Fortuner might also be offered in a lower-end 2.4-liter variant.
