Citroen Basalt X Teased Ahead Of Its Launch; Will Get New Exterior And Interior Themes And Added Features

• The teaser shows an all-black exterior theme with dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels.

• Will get a black and tan interior theme with a new rear centre armrest and probable ambient lighting.

After debuting the Citroen C3 X recently, the French carmaker is all set to launch the Citroen Basalt X, which it has teased recently. The teasers give a glimpse of the exterior as well as the interior design of the Citroen SUV-coupe, which showcases new themes and features. That being said, pre-bookings of the Citroen Basalt X are open across India at Rs 11,000. 

Let us take a look at everything we could spot in the teaser images of the Citroen Basalt X range.

What Could Be Seen?

The teaser images show the side profile of the SUV-coupe, which can be seen with an all-black theme which looks similar to the Dark Edition of the Basalt that was launched in April 2025. It also gets the same dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels as the regular model.

While the exterior does not seem to get a lot of changes, it is the interior that gets a premium-looking black and tan theme in contrast to the all-white interior of the regular Basalt. Other than this, a rear centre armrest with tein cupholders can be seen, which will be a new feature for the SUV-coupe.

One of the teaser images also shows a distinct translucent strip on the dashboard, which might mean that Citroen could equip the Basalt X with ambient lighting. 

Other Features And Safety

The Citroen Basalt X will continue with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver's display and an adjustable under-thigh support for rear seat passengers. It also gets auto AC with rear vents, a wireless phone charger, but misses out on any kind of sunroof.

The safety suite will feature 6 airbags (as standard), hill hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a rear parking camera with sensors.

Powertrain Options

The Citroen Basalt X is expected to be powered by the same naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engine options, the detailed specifications of which are as follows:

Expected Price And Rivals

The Citroen Basalt X range is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the regular variants, which range between Rs 8.32 lakh and Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It will continue to lock horns with the Tata Curvv while being a stylish alternative to compact SUVs such as Citroen Aircross, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Volkswagen Taigun.
