Fiat recently showcased its Urban Cross hatchback at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, which culminated last week. The car finds its foundations in the Avventura crossover, which is a more offroad-esque version of Punto Evo and features updated aesthetics. Regardless of this fact, deducing from the promotion material, which features no mention of the Avventura title- there is a strong possibility that the car will exclusively don the moniker ‘Urban Cross’ with little or no connection to Avventura crossover. The Italian automaker isn’t holding back on the promotions of the car, which are on full throttle on its social media pages. According to reports, the car will be launched sometime in the third quarter of this year. In an conversation with Motorbash, Kevin Flynn, CEO of FCA India stated that Urban Cross will be launched as an addition to their Abarth range and would be derived from Avventura crossover.
Under the hood, Urban Cross will incorporate Fiat’s 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine, which will be tuned to produce 140PS of power and 210Nm of peak torque. While putting this power on the road, Urban Cross will tread on 17-inch alloys. Other updates on the car are majorly restrained to the completely revamped aesthetics, which include a new mesh grille that flaunts chrome accents that are reminiscent of the grill seen on the Tipo sedan, which is available in international markets and is expected to replace Linea in India Soon. The car also features spruced-up roof rails and more premium-esque approach to cladding.
