    Turkey in discussion with Tata, wants to have Nano production facility

    The Indian conglomerate Tata Group is now being keenly sought after by Turkey which wants the group to start a manufacturing plant for the small car Nano, said a Turkish diplomat. He further added that the setting up of such manufacturing plant of Nano will help in meeting the demand of small cars in the market of Europe. Levent Bilman, the Turkish Ambassador to India stated that marketing Tata Nano in European market is a great idea if Tata group considers selecting Turkey for manufacturing that model.

    Tata Motors intends to launch Tata Nano, world’s cheapest car, in the markets of Europe by the year 2012. Bilman commented that the Tatas are already there in the Turkish market. He further added that in his opinion, the group is investigating the market a bit more for finding out that whether Turkey is a nice option to start a production facility. He further added that the market of Turkey is quite big for the cost-efficient, small cars. Nano kind of cars were the cars of the future, added Bilman.

    Bilman also opined that Tata Motors is still analyzing the Turkish market for the future prospects. He also said that he had some important discussions with Tata Group regarding the same issue. He commented that as there would be big investments so the group is examining that market in depth.
