Toyota to introduce a low-cost car?

Some of our sources from Japan have confirmed that Toyota is likely to introduce a low-cost brand to compete with Nissan’s Datsun set-of-models. There are speculations that Toyota will make an announcement on the same by the end of this month or earlier next month.

The Toyota officials have denied such happening, but our sources seem to be confident with the data. Our sources also mention that Toyota could be showcasing something to the media in Thailand by the end of this year or the start of the next year to.

We cannot confirm this, but we can confirm once we get a final date on it. Also, the rumours of a Datsun sedan aren’t true. Datsun will introduce two hatchback models in 2014, which will be competing with the Alto and the Wagon R. To increase its foot hold in the developing markets, Toyota could follow a similar strategy like the Nissan.
