Toyota Innova Hycross Crash Tested By Bharat NCAP, Secures A Five-Star Rating

The Innova Hycross has scored a full five-star rating in both adult and child safety tests

• The Innova Hycross scored 30.47 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection.

• The MPV got full marks in both the dynamic and child seat installation tests, but lost a few points in the vehicle assessment part.

• Safety features onboard include 6 airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera and ADAS.

• The Innova Hycross is priced between Rs 19.09 lakh and Rs 31.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Toyota Innova Hycross has been crash tested by Bharat NCAP, and it has scored a full five-star safety rating. The rating applies to all the petrol and strong-hybrid variants. Notably, it is the first MPV to be crash-tested under BNCAP norms, and it has secured impressive scores in both adult occupant and child occupant protection. We detail its safety ratings and the test scores in the next section:

Adult Occupant Protection

The Innova Hycross secured full points in the side barrier test and close to the maximum score in the frontal crash test. In the frontal crash test, it provided ‘good’ protection to the driver’s head, neck, chest, thighs, knees, lower legs, and feet. The front passenger also received high protection, with the chest area rated as ‘adequate’. 

In the side crash test, the MPV scored full points and showed ‘good’ protection for all key body areas, such as the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Child Occupant Protection

The Innova Hycross scored full points in both the dynamic crash tests and the child seat installation test. In the crash test, it provided maximum protection to both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies in the front (8 out of 8 points) and side impact (4 out of 4 points) scenarios.

Safety Features On Offer

The Toyota Innova Hycross is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchorages and ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.

Price & Rivals

The Toyota Innova Hycross is priced from Rs 19.09 lakh to Rs 31.34 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It ideally does not have direct rivals, since the only rival is its Maruti sibling, i.e. the  Maruti Invicto and its older sibling, the Toyota Innova Crysta. It can be considered a premium alternative to the Kia Carens and Carens Clavis.
