The updated Tigor EV is expected to offer a claimed range of over 300km

Almost a month ago, Tata Motors launched the X-pres T, essentially a facelift for the Tigor EV, but it was limited to fleet buyers. The decision felt a little odd at the time, however, we now know the reason.

The Indian carmaker has teased the Tigor EV facelift (this one will be available for private buyers), alongside the existing Nexon EV. The electric sedan has been teased in a video, in which racecar driver Narain Karthikeyan can be seen enjoying himself in a Nexon EV on the winding Kolli Hills road in Tamil Nadu.

Tata hasn’t revealed any technical details about the Tigor EV facelift, other than the fact that the sedan will make use of its Ziptron technology. This is the same EV technology as the Nexon EV. This makes us believe the Tigor EV facelift would get the same battery pack and electric motors as its SUV counterpart. For your reference, the Nexon EV features a 30.2kWh battery pack that powers a 120PS/245Nm electric motor. According to ARAI, the Nexon EV should offer a range of 312km in ideal conditions. Tata could choose to play around with the power and torque figures as they might prove to be a little more than required in the smaller Tigor EV sedan.

As far as its launch is concerned, it could very well make its way to showrooms in 2021 itself. As for the price, the Tigor EV will undercut the Nexon EV. We expect the EV to be priced around Rs 10 lakh.
