    Reva to invest Rs 30 crore in Bomasandra plant

    Bangalore based Reva Electric Car Co. Pvt. Ltd (RECC), India’s first manufacturer of zero-polluting electric vehicles is planning to invest Rs 30 crore in its new nature-friendly Bommasandra plant in Bangalore. Around 20 per cent, out of Rs 30 crore, would be spent towards green initiatives. The new plant will have harvest rainwater, natural light and tap solar power. Chetan Maini deputy chairman of Bangalore-based RECC, said that the plant would have the capacity to manufacture 30,000 cars a year. The company expects to reduce the energy and water bills by around 30%.

    The factory walls are made of polycarbon honeycomb, a tough plastic with cavities inside to let in diffused natural light and keep out the heat.  The factory will have the capacity to harvest as much as 21,500 litres of rainwater in 15 minutes and store as much as 65,000 litres. The water will be used through the year to wash vehicles and for horticulture.
