Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Ltd. (MREVL), the electric car manufacturer in India has launched the all new plug-in Reva-i car model in India with a price tag of Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The Electric car maker has ventured with  Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian auto giant's finance company Mahindra Finance which has planned a unique financial scheme for the new electric car. R Chandramouli, the Chief Operating Officer of MREVL, on the launch said that, with Reva-i, the company looks forward to sell 3,600 units which is three times the current sale of 1,200 units. As per the company's plan, it expects to accomplish the sales target in the coming one to one and a half year. He added that, the company expects to sell 3,000 units in the national auto sector and 600 units in the globally targeted auto markets. The electric car holds its business mainly in European markets such as Spain, Norway, UK and France and also in Bhutan, Malaysia and Nepal.

However, the electric car company is developing an all new four seater electric car model for the domestic auto market which is expected to enter in India by next year. As the government of different countries are stressing on the new genre of vehicles, the plug-in cars or electric cars have a lot of scope in the global auto market. The Mahindra-Reva is planning to expand vastly in national as well as international auto market by increasing its portfolio. At present the company sells its car models through 10 dealerships in India, which it visions to increase to 100 or more, stretching it in more than 60 cities by 2012.

The company aims to capture a meaty chunk this time as it is due with the launch of a new manufacturing facility which will be fully functional in June 2010. The upcoming facility will produce more than 30,000 cars which is huge compared to the present 1,200 units every month. The MREVL is a joint venture of Mahindra and Reva. Mahindra took over 55 per cent of the stake in Reva in May, 2010.

Explain about the durability of Battery, how many kilometers does it lasts for before replacing, what is the cost of each replacement. As I have heard that the battery lasts for 50,000 kilometers and costing about 50 to 60,000 rupees meaning battery costing 1.2 Rupees per kilometer and electric charging costing 40 to 50 paise per kilometer put to gether per kilometer costing upto 2 Rupees, Is the Reva Car worth with an Budget of 4 lakhs investment. Any diesel car with 4.5 to 5.5 lakh investment like Indica eV2 and Beat costing 2.00 Rupees per kilometer on fuel costs does you feel Reva i a better car for money and utility, No doubt its pollution free and easy drivibility whereas the cost is very high, means company is draining the savings of an car buyer at the time of purchase and during Battery replacement once in 3 years of 40 to 50,000 kms. I look for comments from company and other car makers comments.
