As the Renault launches Lodgy MPV in Indian market, competition in MPV segment starts to boil to a new degree in the already flooded segment. Lodgy with seating capacity of 7 to 8 passenger, lock horns with segment leader Toyota Innova while it gives stern competition to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio as well. With the base price of Rs 8.19 lac, Renault Lodgy loses the price advantage with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio but is affordable when compared with Toyota Innova. Exterior and Interior Dimensions

When it comes to sheer size, Innova has an edge over all the models but when it comes to the wheelbase and rear seat comfort, Lodgy takes matter in its own hands. Dimension wise, Lodgy measures (LxWxH) 4498mm, 1751mm and 1697mm looks bulkier while the Innova is bit longer in length and width but has a smaller wheelbase compared to Lodgy.

Renault Lodgy is available in both 7 and 8 seater configuration. The 7 seater gets captain seats in the middle while the 8 seater gets a bench. Both the bench and the captain seats are very comfortable with no legroom issues. Rear passengers get an India special aircon vents above with blower speed control while the last row just gets vents. In order to make additional room for luggage the second row seats split in a 60:40 ratio allowing easy access to the third row. The third row can be split in a 50:50 ratio or removed completely to make more boot space available.

The seat removal option is unique for Renault Lodgy and is not offered in any of its competitor. In terms of interior features, Renault Lodgy, Honda Mobilio and Toyota Innova offers touchscreen infotainment system while the Ertiga does not.

Engine and Power

Lodgy is powered by Duster’s 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine tuned in way to develop power in two forms 85 PS and 110 PS. The lag is quite low, and MPV from Renault gives a fun-in-driving experience. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets Fiat’s 1.3 DDIs diesel engine which gives an output of 88.8 bhp and same is output of Honda’s Mobilio housing fuel efficent 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine.

The might Innova with its 2.5-litre diesel engine gives an ouput of 100bhp. All the models gets 5-speed manual transmission expect for the Renault Lodgy 110 PS model which comes with 6 speed manual gearbox.
