Renault KWID Spied

The Renault KWID 1.0-litre version (likely to be diesel) has been spied testing in Chennai. The vehicle looks identical to the existing 800cc model, except that it has a SCe badge on it. What makes us even more curious is that the ‘more powerful’ KWID was accompanied by 0.8-litre petrol versions, but with alloy wheels. This gives thrust to possibilities that the French carmaker might offer them soon in the hatch. It is only offered with steel wheels for now.

Nissan recently developed a 1.0-litre diesel mill. It is anticipated that Renault will borrow the same from the Japanese carmaker for its hatch. The two companies are in partnership and the Datsun Redi-GO too is based on the CMF-A platform that is employed in the KWID. If Renault goes with the 1.0-litre diesel, it might encounter a new problem as it is reported that the said mill produces 55bhp of power. Given that the current model of the KWID in India produces 53bhp, it will not add much to the power figure. But we should not forget that it is a diesel mill, which will result in better Kwid mileage and torque . The KWID 1.0-litre is expected to hit the roads by June this year.

It seems Renault has still a lot to offer in the KWID. The automaker displayed the AMT version of the car at the Auto Expo 2016 and, as stated before, it might get alloys too. The hatchback has evoked tremendous response from customers, with the waiting period lasting up to four months in some cities. With all these updates in the pipeline, we expect the company to touch new highs.
