Porsche India aims at pushing sales to 500 cars this year

Porsche, the German luxury auto mobile giant is looking forward to enhance the sales of its magnificent car to five times for this year. The company plans to spread its distribution wings and also to reduce the gap between delivering its cars.

Ashish Chordia, CEO of Precision Cars India Pvt Ltd said that the company wishes to roll out as many as 500 cars this year against the last year's sale of 131 cars. He also added that till mid February the order book has already showed booking of 217 luxury cars. The company is also planning to reduce the waiting ques for its cars. At present the New Delhi based firm is the only authorized distributor of Porsche cars in the country. Chordia further added that for the super luxury sports utility vehicle Porsche Cayenne's the waiting period is almost 500 days and for the other sports car models it is 100 days.

Porche the exclusive premium car manufacturer has production capacity of as many as 100,000 cars every year, which caters to its demand in the international auto market which the auto company exports from its German manufacturing unit.

Mr Chordia also said that for Porsche Cayenne global order book has registered 74,000 car orders however, the manufacturing capacity is only 44,000 cars, which is less than the number of orders .

The German auto brand is planning to increase its distribution network for this year by coming up with new outlets in cities like Ahemdabad, Bangalore, Kochi and Chandigarh. As per the auto company stats, Porsche car buyers age between 35 to 45 years, it signifies that children play a major role in selecting the car's colour, fitments etc.

When quizzed about the German Auto company's plan for Indian auto industry, Mohamed Rahman of Porsche said that looking at the future prospective India is a very vital market for the German auto company. At present China is a prominent auto market in Asia which accounts to 20,000 cars yearly. The other parts of Asia which accounts for 4000 cars and the African auto market registers for 7,000 cars.
