Nissan Evalia/NV200 to be Sold as Barcelona Taxi
Nissan presented the Nissan NV200, known in India as the Nissan Evalia, and the e-NV200 concept on the 22nd of November, 2012 in Barcelona. The vehicles were presented as the city's next generation taxi as forerunners for zero emmision cars in Spain. In attendence was Mr. Xavier Trias, mayor of Barcelona, Antoni Vives, deputy mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Vila, Fleet and Commercial Vehicle general manager at Nissan Europe, and Francisco Sauco, Fleet and Commercial Vehicle manager at Nissan Iberia.
The Nissan NV200/Evalia was first launced in Japan and Europe in the year 2009 and has since then been brought to over 40 countires including India. Nissan has sold over 135,000 units of the Evalia since its inception, worldwide. Additionally, New York has also procliamed the NV200 as its exclusive next generation cab. In fact the concept form of the NV200 has even been unviled with a vision to replace London's iconic 'black cab'.
As far as plans for the e-NV200 concept go, Nissan has made an investment of 100 million pounds for the concept which will be produced at the Zona Franca plant in Barcelona, starting late 2013. The process is estimated to help the community by creating 700 plus jobs for the locals.
Coming back to the Nissan NV200/Evalia, the cars Barcelona Taxi model will be avilable for sale starting 2nd January, 2013. The Evalia taxi in europe will house the 1.5 dCi 110 hp engine and will deliver a mileage of 18.18 kmpl.
