We compare diesel variants of the Venue against similarly priced variants of the Vitara Brezza to find out which offers better bang for your buck

Hyundai has launched the Venue with prices ranging between Rs 6.50 lakh and Rs 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in a choice of five variants (E, S, SX, SX+, SX(O)) and three engine options -- one diesel and two petrol engines. If you are eyeing a diesel-powered Hyundai Venue you might want to compare it against the  Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to find out whether it offers more value than the Suzuki or not. So we place the Maruti SUV against the new Hyundai to find out which one offers better value for your money variant-by-variant.

Detailed Prices (ex-showroom Delhi)

Hyundai Venue Diesel

Maruti Vitara Brezza

E Rs 7.75 lakh

LDI Rs 7.67 lakh

S Rs 8.45 lakh

VDI Rs 8.20 lakh

ZDI Rs 8.97 lakh

SX Rs 9.78 lakh

ZDI+ Rs 9.93 lakh

SX(O) 10.84 lakh

For a fair comparison, we will be comparing the variants of each of these SUVs priced no more than the Rs 50,000 difference.

Hyundai Venue E vs Maruti Vitara Brezza LDI

Hyundai Venue E

Rs 7.75 lakh

Maruti Vitara Brezza LDI

Rs 7.67 lakh

Rs 8,000 (Venue is more expensive)

Common Features

Safety: ABS with EBD, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder, high speed alert, ISOFIX, central locking, engine immobilizer, manual IRVM, front seat belts with pretensioners, load limiters and reminder lamp and buzzer.

Exterior: Body coloured bumpers and door handles, steel wheels

Interiors: Fabric seat upholstery, driver side footrest, front power windows, accessory socket and tachometer.

Convenience: manual AC, tilt steering, front armrest with storage and four door pockets.

What Venue gets over Vitara Brezza: Full wheel covers, back pockets on front seats, body coloured door handles, impact sensing door unlock and speed sensing door locks.

What Vitara Brezza gets over Venue: Chrome front grille, up/down on driver side front power window, electrically adjustable ORVM, Audio system with CD, USB, Bluetooth, 4 speakers

The Maruti Vitara Brezza LDI offers better value than Venue’s E variant given the features on offer at a marginally lower price.

Hyundai Venue S vs Maruti Vitara Brezza VDI

Hyundai Venue S

Rs 8.45 lakh

Maruti Vitara Brezza VDI

Rs 8.20 lakh

Rs 25,000 (Venue is more expensive)

Additional common Features over the previous variant

Safety: Anti-theft alarm

Exterior: Roof rails, body coloured electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors

Interior: Rear power windows, driver side power window with auto-up and anti-pinch and passenger vanity mirror.

Audio: 2-DIN audio system with FM, USB, Bluetooth, 4 door speakers with remote control.

What Venue gets over Vitara Brezza: Rear defogger, front center armrest with storage,  driver side power window with illumination, rear AC vents, steering-integrated audio and telephony controls, front tweeters, USB charger and rear power outlet.

What Vitara Brezza gets over Venue: Reverse parking sensors with infographic display.

The Hyundai Venue might be pricier by Rs 25,000 but gets additional convenience features. It gets a driver armrest with storage, steering-integrated audio controls, all of which would improve the daily drive coming in handy for the diesel drivers who engage in longer commutes. The Vitara Brezza with its cheaper price tag misses out on significant features that cannot be fitted post purchase.

Hyundai Venue SX vs Maruti Vitara Brezza ZDI+

Hyundai Venue SX

Rs 9.78 lakh

Maruti Vitara Brezza ZDI+

Rs 9.93 lakh

Rs 15,000 (Vitara Brezza is more expensive)

Additional common Features over the previous variant

Safety: Rear parking camera

Exterior: Chrome front grille, auto projector headlamps, LED guide lights on Vitara Brezza and LED DRLs on Venue, 16-inch alloy wheels, ORVMs with turn indicators.

Interiors: Height adjustable driver seat, front map lamp, accessory socket for rear passengers, luggage lamp, rear adjustable headrests and parcel tray.

Audio: Touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice recognition.

Convenience: Electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, rear defogger, rear washer with wiper, cooled glovebox, cruise control, steering wheel with integrated audio and telephony controls and climate control.

What Venue gets over Vitara Brezza: Headlamps with cornering function, LED tail lamps, electric sunroof, driver rear view monitor (enables the driver to see the rear view while forward driving without engaging the reverse gear).

What Vitara Brezza gets over Venue: Rain sensing wipers, rear center armrest with cupholders, 60:40 rear seat split, sunglass holder and push button start/stop with smart key.

The Vitara Brezza takes brownie points here as it packs features which justify the Rs 15,000 premium it commands over the Venue. The Hyundai does pack a few features more than the Maruti but these won’t have much effect on your overall ownership experience.

These comparisons are very pro Maruti blindly. Appreciate the effort but too one sided for wrong reasons
